Chapter 9

Rāja Vidyā Rāja Guhya Yoga

  1. 9.1इदं तु ते गुह्यतमं प्रवक्ष्याम्यनसूयवे ।Krishna offers Arjuna the deepest teaching because he is open and free from envy.
  2. 9.2राजविद्या राजगुह्यं पवित्रमिदमुत्तमम् ।Krishna describes this teaching as the highest, purest, and most direct knowledge.
  3. 9.3अश्रद्दधानाः पुरुषा धर्मस्यास्य परन्तप ।Without faith, a person cannot enter this path deeply enough to be freed from rebirth.
  4. 9.4मया ततमिदं सर्वं जगदव्यक्तमूर्तिना ।Everything exists within Krishna, yet He is not limited by the things He pervades.
  5. 9.5न च मत्स्थानि भूतानि पश्य मे योगमैश्वरम् ।Krishna sustains the world without being bound by it.
  6. 9.6यथाकाशस्थितो नित्यं वायुः सर्वत्रगो महान् ।All beings are upheld by Krishna just as wind moves within space.
  7. 9.7सर्वभूतानि कौन्तेय प्रकृतिं यान्ति मामिकाम् ।Creation and dissolution follow the cosmic rhythm of Krishna’s will.
  8. 9.8प्रकृतिं स्वामवष्टभ्य विसृजामि पुनः पुनः ।Beings are repeatedly projected into existence by Krishna through nature.
  9. 9.9न च मां तानि कर्माणि निबध्नन्ति धनञ्जय ।Krishna is not bound by the actions of creation because He remains detached.
  10. 9.10मयाध्यक्षेण प्रकृतिः सूयते सचराचरम् ।Nature works, but it works under Krishna’s oversight.
  11. 9.11अवजानन्ति मां मूढा मानुषीं तनुमाश्रितम् ।Some reject Krishna because they judge only by His human appearance.
  12. 9.12मोघाशा मोघकर्माणो मोघज्ञाना विचेतसः ।Those who reject Krishna from pride lose the fruit of hope, action, and knowledge.
  13. 9.13महात्मानस्तु मां पार्थ दैवीं प्रकृतिमाश्रिताः ।Great souls are guided by divine nature and worship Krishna with one-pointed devotion.
  14. 9.14सततं कीर्तयन्तो मां यतन्तश्च दृढव्रताः ।Devoted seekers keep Krishna in mind through praise, effort, and reverence.
  15. 9.15ज्ञानयज्ञेन चाप्यन्ये यजन्तो मामुपासते ।Some approach Krishna through insight and contemplation of the one Divine appearing in many ways.
  16. 9.16अहं क्रतुरहं यज्ञः स्वधाहमहमौषधम् ।Krishna says He is present in every part of sacrifice and sacred practice.
  17. 9.17पिताहमस्य जगतो माता धाता पितामहः ।Krishna identifies Himself as the source, support, and sacred essence of the cosmos.
  18. 9.18गतिर्भर्ता प्रभुः साक्षी निवासः शरणं सुहृत् ।Krishna is the beginning, support, and final home of all beings.
  19. 9.19तपाम्यहमहं वर्षं निगृह्णाम्युत्सृजामि च ।Krishna rules over the forces of nature, life, death, and existence itself.
  20. 9.20त्रैविद्या मां सोमपाः पूतपापा यज्ञैरिष्ट्वा स्वर्गतिं प्रार्थयन्ते ।People who seek heavenly reward through ritual can attain celestial enjoyment.
  21. 9.21ते तं भुक्त्वा स्वर्गलोकं विशालं क्षीणे पुण्ये मर्त्यलोकं विशन्ति ।Heavenly reward is temporary, and desire-driven practice leads back to rebirth.
  22. 9.22अनन्याश्चिन्तयन्तो मां ये जनाः पर्युपासते ।Krishna personally supports the devoted seeker’s needs and protection.
  23. 9.23येऽप्यन्यदेवता भक्ता यजन्ते श्रद्धयान्विताः ।Faith in other forms still reaches Krishna, but indirectly and imperfectly.
  24. 9.24अहं हि सर्वयज्ञानां भोक्ता च प्रभुरेव च ।Krishna is the true recipient of all sacrifice, even when that is not understood.
  25. 9.25यान्ति देवव्रता देवान्पितॄन्यान्ति पितृव्रताः ।Different kinds of worship lead to different destinations, while Krishna’s devotees reach Krishna.
  26. 9.26पत्रं पुष्पं फलं तोयं यो मे भक्त्या प्रयच्छति ।Krishna accepts even the simplest offering when it is given with devotion.
  27. 9.27यत्करोषि यदश्नासि यज्जुहोषि ददासि यत् ।All of life can become sacred when it is offered to Krishna.
  28. 9.28शुभाशुभफलैरेवं मोक्ष्यसे कर्मबन्धनैः ।Offering action to Krishna loosens karmic bondage and unites work with surrender.
  29. 9.29समोऽहं सर्वभूतेषु न मे द्वेष्योऽस्ति न प्रियः ।Krishna is equal to all, yet devotion creates a living closeness with Him.
  30. 9.30अपि चेत्सुदुराचारो भजते मामनन्यभाक् ।A person with serious flaws can still become righteous if devotion is sincere and one-pointed.
  31. 9.31क्षिप्रं भवति धर्मात्मा शश्वच्छान्तिं निगच्छति ।Sincere devotion quickly transforms a person and leads to peace.
  32. 9.32मां हि पार्थ व्यपाश्रित्य येऽपि स्युः पापयोनयः ।Anyone who takes refuge in Krishna can reach the highest destination.
  33. 9.33किं पुनर्ब्राह्मणाः पुण्या भक्ता राजर्षयस्तथा ।If all seekers can reach Krishna, then devoted and righteous ones can surely do so.
  34. 9.34मन्मना भव मद्भक्तो मद्याजी मां नमस्कुरु ।Krishna asks for complete inner focus, devotion, offering, and surrender.
